3-19-05 Over 160+ gamers for one of our smaller events is a whopping success! Again thank you, thank yourselves and we will continue to bring you the biggest and best tournaments. We still have room to make it bigger and better for you so prepare for 7th Annual May 28th tournament, It is our super bowl, our grand hurrah, our championship!
The March 19th Event was a huge success! We want to thank you all for the
phenomenal success we have had over the past years for X-topia.com. We truly do
offer the premiere video game events
in the Southwest region. We keep growing and getting better and better.
Let me quickly mention the great turnout we had for Tekken 5, Halo, and Super Smash Bros. Melee, Madden and DDR! These games keep pulling the large numbers of people for play and have a great following. The Tekken 5 tournament was in particularly fun this time around with 3 tournaments for T5. A Experts tournament, a beginners tournament, and a late night open tournament. beginning players had a chance to play people at their own skill level and the elite players were separated and tested their skills against the best of the best!
The 2nd chance tournaments were such a success for T5 we will slowly incorporate these 2nd chance tournaments slowly into the most popular games.
Over $2000.00 dollars in prizes given away and we expect to easily double that for the big 7th Annual May 28th tournament. We still naming the tournament so any ideas please let us know. Damien Webster mentioned perhaps the New Mexico Desert Rumble? NM Nightmare? Albuquerque...... Assault? All good suggestions.
Can't wait for May 28th, school will be out, and top players in the region and nation will be bringing their game to New Mexico! So lets get ready to defend! To our future!
Enjoy the coming updates and THANK YOU for the continued support.
1-19-04 You might have noticed Electronics Boutique has signed on as our EVENT sponsor for tournament. But the news is bigger and better then just being the event sponsor for one event. They have agreed to be the event sponsor for three tournaments! So the January tournament, the March tournament, and the BIG annual May tournament! Get ready for to enjoy the best video game events in the South West getting even better. Thank you EB GAMES!
3-21-05 Finally we can update the web site again! Sorry for the delay but it should be smooth sailing from here on out!
2-7-05 We have switch to a new web host!
2-5-05 Are you a fan of Tekken 5? Can't get enough Tekken 5 action? Can't wait for the huge T5 tournament we are doing on March 19th? Why not go to Farmington and get some action a week earlier on March 12th then! Farmington is holding a T5 tournament on March 12th at the Farmington Tilt in the Animas Valley Mall. Open registration at 10-11AM and tournament starts at 11:30. Entry fee is $10.00 .Lets get some hype build up before the X-topia March 19th tournament and this is a great way of doing it! Albuquerque Vs. Farmington! Lets go!
2-1-05 We are always on the cutting edge of promoting the hobby of video games and promoting competitive video game play, the sport of the mind., and were riding on the edge again. The beginning details of the March 19th tournament is up on the tournament section. If you notice in that updated section we are now offering beginning players a chance to play people at their own skill level and for the elite players they will be separated and test their skills against the best of the best! Ok are we nuts?! No were just giving you the people what you want. A second chance tournament on select games. You might say but it will cut the pot, or how will you determine who's a beginner? Don't fret. We don't mess with a winning formula, and we're not messing with what got us here. Everything stays the same. No changes to you or the tournament format.
But what we will be offering is people who go two losses and out, no wins, eliminated in the second round, a chance to buy into a 2nd chance tournament. No it won't be as prestigious, and no the pot for the 2nd chance tournaments will be much much lower. But it does give players who normally don't come to the tournaments because they "KNOW" they have no chance at winning, an opportunity to play other people more at their level of ability. We need to encourage players to pick up the hobby. We need to help players, encourage, provide a place for them to improve their skills, and playing against people their own level gives them more reasons to come and an opportunity to learn.
If you have any questions please let us know. Otherwise get ready to evolve once again and lead the way with our unique vision. Now were just waiting for others to copy cat us now.... The sincerest form of flattery.... :)
1-31-05 Congratulations gamers on another great tournament! Again it truly is an event and something that is best experienced, as words are a shadow of the greatness. I would like to thank our primary sponsors, EB Games and Red Bull. There are some Video Games I know you guys will be purchasing here soon enough. Like Tekken 5 among others, be sure you purchase them at EB to show our support. As they support us, especially at the Candelaria and Eubank location. The site will be updated during this week with pictures of the event, updating the winners in the history section, a tournament report article and to provide more details on the next March 19th event. Garret Tapia should have good reason to smile. Taking 1st place in Soul Calibur
2 at the Annual Colorado Cut Throat Console Tournament. That makes two out of
state tournaments Garret Tapia has claimed in the past couple of months! Another
notable mention is Derek Chavez taking 3rd in that same tournament!
Congratulations guys and Garret on to Vgames $10,000.00 dollar tourney!
!Caliente news! 9-27-04 More good news. Garret Tapia has won the Arizonia v-games tournament for SC2. Qualifying him for a free trip to nationals and a chance to win $10,000! So lets give all the SC2 competition he needs from now till December so he can be ready. Rey Juarez Also qualified putting both these guys among the top 30 players in the nation! Congratulations!
!Caliente news! 9-23-04 Happy days are here again! Where do I start with all the good news? Forums are up!(see note below) The V-Games are coming to town and PAG is doing a HALO and HALO 2 tournament! What does this all spell out for us here in Albuquerque? HUGE OPPORTUNITY for X-TOPIA, for us community of gamers. Particularly Soul Calibur 2 and HALO are going to blow up in the town of Albuquerque.
Fist for SC2 we will enjoy the X-TOPIA tournament on the 23rd and then then V-Gamers tournament on the 24th! Two days of INTENSE SC2 action. Being the way it has worked out we have lots of national elite players from the nation looking to come down and enjoy both the 23rd and 24th of Tournaments. X-TOPIA has to give a special thanks to Ryan Defield for his hard work and connection to V-Games for getting the scheduling worked out for all of us. Way to go Ryan! (Ryan in the forums handle is "Thatguy" so say a thanks)
Second the HALO opportunity is something that the community would want to do. It's up to you guys if you like the idea, I'm sure we can pull it off, if not then we'll wait for the next tournament. V-Games is starting their HALO action on Saturday. My feeling is at the end of Saturday ALLOT of players will be eliminated. Why not offer the Eliminated participants of Saturday a new tournament to buy into on Sunday? What say you? Post your feelings for HALO in the forums. And thanks for your patience on the forums coming back on-line.
